这是首古老的美国传统圣诗，可能源自于黑奴时期的黑人灵歌。
这类圣诗的歌词与旋律都非常质朴，
但是，常常能撼动人心深处。
这首能广为人知，主要是因为美国当代福音女歌手Alison Krauss唱红所致。
这首圣诗采取的是无伴奏模式，
单纯使用人声，
这样最能达成那种感动人的气氛。
（其实，很多黑人灵歌的圣诗都是这样，
采取无伴奏，或是很简单的伴奏，
用最原始的人声，来唱出信仰之声）
由于本首圣诗英文非常简单、旋律也很容易上口，

这首歌真的很美,第一次听时,唱到 Oh sinner let’s go down,觉得就是在对我说话,自觉虽然不配,但仍然能来到至圣者前.我也很喜欢Gaither Vocal Band的版本. 后来在他们的曲单里也发现 The Ninety and Nine 这首歌…非常动容!
不是高举双手拚命地跟上帝呼喊、跟上帝要，
而是沉下去，再沉下去……
